Do you have to have a regular PSP battery to create a magic memory stick for a PSP slim?

I have already hacked my PSP, but I only have the battery that the PSP came with. When I first hacked my PSP, I created the magic memory stick and then the pandora battery using that battery. When I inserted the second memory stick to hack it, my PSP turned on but did not activate, presumably because the service battery was searching for the previous magic memory stick. Could anyone tell me if it is possible to create a second magic memory stick with a single, already hacked battery?
